No. Many have a fundamental belief the internet is for everyone - this clearly is not the case with this restriction in place. Disallowing non-Australians from publishing content to the .au space is limiting our information source. 1B a) Should informal clubs and groups be allowed to register within org.au? Yes. b) Should informal clubs and groups be allowed to register within com.au and net.au (ie.relax the eligibility criteria for com.au and net.au)? Yes. Informal clubs and groups shouldn't be pushed to a second rate ccTLD. c) No comment. 1C a) Are current enforcement mechanisms in the .au domain space adequate and effective? Yes. They are amongst the strictest in the world. They should be relaxed - you shouldn't have to qualify why you want to buy a domain/website, no one questions buying a number plate or property. 1D a) Should the fixed 2 year domain name licence period be changed? Yes. b) If so, what other domain name licence periods should be made available? 1 year. 1E a) Should a registrant be allowed to lease their domain name to another entity? Yes. b) If so, under what circumstances? All circumstances, as long as the website can still demonstrate a close and substantial connection. It would be the registrants responsibility that remains. 1F a) Should single character domain names (a-z, 0-9) be permitted in the .au domain? Yes. b) If so, what requirements should a registrant have to meet to be eligible to register a single character domain name? The current eligibility requirements. There should not be a different eligibility requirement for single character domain names. 1G a) Should individuals be able to register domain names that relate to a personal hobby or interest? Yes. b. If so, how should the eligibility criteria be changed to accommodate this type of domain name? Removal of ABN/ACN/Business number requirement. The internet is for everyone. 4 a) Should the restriction on prohibited misspellings remain in place? No. c) How should a prohibition on misspellings be enforced? It shouldn't. It should be covered by TM/IP law. It is not for the Australian Domain Name Administrator to govern trademark/IP infringements.
